New Year's food resolutions

the usual ones-eat healthier, exercise. but we also want to stop eating out just for convenience.  so i'm trying to cook out of our existing coffers. this lead to making phyllo kale and feta triangles for dinner the other night. i have no idea why i had phyllo in the freezer, but turns out its easy to work with.
also trying to have food on hand so we arent tempted to order out chinese. so i made 70! meatballs yesterday and froze them, to toss in sauce with pasta. Any other ideas for freezer meals?

  1. I've never worked with phillo, but we watched Good Eats the other day where he made baklava, and now I totally want to try! And I love those little spinach and feta things, so I bet the kale ones were great!

Re: freezer food: Casseroles and anything that goes in a crockpot freeze well. I always had soup and stock frozen ahead, and rice or oat-zoto freeze well. I can't remember anything else off the top of my head just now, but Pinterest.com is in love with stuff like that and is full of recipes!

Me and mom are going to try to cook our way around the world this year, so maybe we can swap recipes as we both go through our projects!

  2. cooking around the world-that sounds fun. i've been making thai curry a lot, its super easy and you can throw in so many vegetables. and i serve it with the black "forbidden" rice which is also super yummy. is your tour going to follow a route or a haphazzard zig and zag pattern around the globe?

    1. Probably a haphazard zig and zag based on whatever we feel like eating next. I'm thinking something Asian after. Also, mmmmm, curry.
